Professor at the University of Saskatchewan
Luis is a Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in evolutionary, paleoenvironmental, and stratigraphic aspects of ichnology. He has carried out field and subsurface work in many different countries. He was President of the International Ichnological Association and Vice-President of the International Palaeontological Association. He is the 2022 recipient of the Raymond C. Moore Paleontology Medal from the SEMP Society of Sedimentary Geology. He is a member of the editorial board of a number of journals, including Scientific Reports, Lethaia, Sedimentary Geology, Marine and Petroleum Geology, Ichnos, Ameghiniana, Revista de la Asociacion Geologica Argentina, Iberian Journal of Geology, and Spanish Journal of Paleontology. Luis is a Voting Member of the International Subcommission on Ediacaran Stratigraphy (IGCP). He has published five books, edited six special publications, and is the author of over 200 scientific papers. He has supervised over twenty graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
